WIP Wednesday: the one where I went to a quilting weekend away

Went to the NSW Quilt Guild's annual weekend away - 3-4 days of nothing but sewing, socialising, and eating. Okay, there was a leetle bit of shopping in there...

For the first time in a month (maybe two), I actually got work done!

Scrapbox Elegy

Took my scraps with me, many of them already cut or set up into HSTs or the centre blocks, and managed to finish an entire quilt top!

I'm pretty happy with it. And will probably keep it. Although my mother wanted to know what I was going to do with it. (I think she's angling for another quilt.) *sigh* MOTHER. You have some of my prettiest quilts already!

Also: it's a very easy quilt to make, and it suits a whole range of styles of fabric, as well as a whole range of fabrics mingled together.

And the final quilt top, hanging on the chicken yard.

I bound it in a dark khaki colour, just for the fun of binding it 'boring'.

I got some movement on The Restless Hands Of Sel - finally. I just haven't been doing this very much of late.

With the job vanishing and travel on the horizon, it might be time to get some of these sewn together...

Maybe 2027 can be the year of the Restless Hands.

31st August

Back in the middle of August, I got a phonecall informing me that the quilts were due for handing over for the quilt show in a week. To say I wasn't ready is an understatement and I spent a week madly finishing the quilts - that is, finishing the tops, backing them, quilting them, binding them, and putting on a sleeve and label. They were handed over on the Sunday they were due.

This year, being out of work for the first time in years when the show comes around, I'm going to go to the trunk show on Thursday night, and volunteer for the show on the Saturday. Hopefully meet up with some of the quilting ladies during the day or for lunch.
