2019 Finish Along: Q2 Goals

Right, so starting over again...

complete at least 2 UFO Challenges out of the 3 for this quarter
For the APQ UFO Challenge, there'll be three challenge months. I have to finish at least two. (Ideally, all three would get done, but I'm not particularly hopeful.)

I won't get them all done, of course. I have a job again, and things are looking pretty hectic. But we'll see how many easy wins we can get this month...

2019 Finish Along: First Quarter

A couple of Easy Wins, I think. I have three months in which to get this done, and at least some of it needs to involve a quilt show quilt

Finish along Q1 2019

Mum's laptop sleeve
I made her a laptop sleeve for Christmas.

Finish along Q1 2019

It turned out to be too small...

This actually needs to be done for Friday. So CHOPCHOP!

100 Kona-Tula Blocks
This is the January UFO Challenge, so the goal is to finish the top - sash the blocks together. It doesn't take long, it's just fiddly and the weather is hot.

DECIDE ON SYDNEY QUILT SHOW ENTRY
I have no idea what to do for this this year! I mean, our guild hasn't even worked something out yet...

Quilt Thoughts for Q1 2015

So, I haven't done half of what I wanted in Q1 of 2015. Had a big sewjo slump, couldn't get back on the unicorn.

It's time to revise from our very ambitious plan back in January. Life happens, goals have to shift. This is not a bad thing.

So these are the major goals for Q2 of 2015.

The biggest things are:

1. Swarm: which needs to be done for the Sydney Quilt Show

2. Snowflakes: again, needs to be done for the Sydney Quilt Show

3. Retro Autumn: which I'm thinking of doing for the Australian Modern Quilt Show (because brown is not modern).

4. Tula Pink Mini Swap: I don't know what I was thinking.

These things have deadlines, and therefore Must Be Done.

Things that are important but not urgent

5. Curtains for the house: WINTER IS COMING (sorry, had to be said) and we still don't really have curtains on the windows of the new house. Not that they'll help all that much without pelmets (which my sister is looking at getting; we're pretty obsessive about ways to minimise energy loss from the house).

6. 1920s dress: a friend is coming down from the US in June. I know her from fandom, but she's also a sewist - costumes and dresses rather than quilts, although her MIL quilts. And she's coming to see a Miss Fisher Mysteries costume tour in Melbourne, so we're dressing up and going to a speakeasy and an afternoon tea. And I simply must have something new to wear! (Ooh, she'll be here for the Sydney Craft And Quilt Fair!)

7. quilt backings: I want to get these done so we have a slew of quilts for the winter.

That's Q2, when the gardening will be a little quieter (maybe) and the hockey has begun (so unfit) and the sister and I work out how winter actually works in this house. (It's gonna be cold out there, folks.)

Quilt-top Roll-call of 2011 - the story so far

Tops completed in 2011:
1. Penny Batik

2. Modern Rail Fence

3. Central Park Boxes

4. Supernova

5. Sanctuary Kaleidoscope

6. Santorini Sun And Sea

7. The Colour Of Magic

8. Gothic Summer Sampler

9. Go Back To The Jungle, Turn The World Around

(a.k.a. "the fabric that went to the quilter's a backing and came back a quilt")

Quilt tops on the schedule to be done by the end of the year:
- UberQuilt Blogfest: This is crazy fun and really easy. Lots of HSTs and log cabins, and while the palette is a little too purple/pink for my tastes, I think it's going to work pretty nicely.

- Mum's Impstar: I've finally got enough fabric, now I must start cutting out blocks and sewing them all together. Goal is to get this done, quilted and bound in time for Christmas.

- Harvest HSTs: I don't much like this quilt, but it needs doing. They have to be squared off and sewn together at some point, and it's the piecing that's going to be the painstaking part, I suspect. And the strip of 'inexact seams'.

- Dead Simple QAL: So I decided (with a little help) that the Fallen Hues colour palette was best for the DS QAL. I've pulled out every fabric in those shades that I have and I'm going to start cutting strips next week. I'm going to strip-piece sections of this one some in order to make it a faster project. We'll see how it looks when it comes out in the wash...

So, I could perhaps do 13 full-size quilts in 2011? If I join the Christmas QAL and complete it by Christmas...that'll be 14 quilt tops in 2011...

Of course, there's the small hump of actually getting them done...
