2015 Q4 goals

1. Quilt the Snowflake quilt

Yeah, this sucker:
WIP Wednesday: sprint for the show

2. Make 2 summer dresses out of the Liberty fabric I bought in the UK

Use this pattern:
Butterick 6404 classic

3. Make 1 summer dress out of the C+S voile I have

...probably just a slip dress, no zipper, nothing. Comfy and casual.

4. Piece 'I Bet Fibonacci Never Had To Do Quilt Math'

New project in C+S, very secret. Will hopefully be for next year's Sydney Quilt Show

5. Piece the Meadow Quilt

Started started started, gotta finish it. Lizzy said that once you've done the 'eyes', you'll finish the quilt. So I suppose this project could be called "The Eyes Have It"?!? (*cue groans at dadjoke*)

My #meadowquilt block at the #sydneymeadowquilt class today!

6. Piece Yuma QAL in HR Mendocino

7. Finish Scrappy Log Cabin

WIP Wednesday: scraps, charms, and cats.

8. Do 100 Days Of FMQ project

100 Days, starting the 2nd October. That'll take me through to the New Year, right? How about a 10x10 of 9.5" square blocks with FMQ on them? See if I can make it work?

Putting my goals up at Fiber of All Sorts' October 2015: A Lovely Year Of Finishes Masterpost.

2015 - Q3 Finishes!

1. Get all my AHBC Birthday Swaps Done - DONE

The #hourbasket is really easy. Really really easy... #saturdaynightcraftalong

JeniB's drawstring bag, in Angela Walters' fabric....

2. Quilt two quilts - NOPE

Didn't even manage one.

3. Finish Domestic Bliss Quilt Top - DONE

Quilt for my mother's Soroptimists chapter to raffle off. Quilt stats: 76" square, fabric is Domestic Bliss by Liz Scott, pattern is Swell by Camille Roskelley.

4. Those Damned Curtains for the front room - NOPE

SUMMER IS ICUMEN IN.

Still on the list, though. I am thinking of either a Halloween Pumpkin for the front curtains for Halloween or possibly a Sugar-Skull for Day of the Dead.

5. summer dresses - PARTLY

SHIELD dress

I think I need to be specific about how many and what dresses precisely next time.

6. Costume for Dragon*Con Atlanta - NOPE

Could have made this a lot easier for myself by buying. But no. Next time, gadget!

2015 Finish Along - Q2 failings

So, I feel like Q2 failed miserably. MISERABLY.

Partly because I did my calf muscle in while playing hockey, which meant I had to drop out of the Sydney Quilt Show entirely *sadface* and partly because I am a crazy overachiever.

Although I guess I can add "my calf muscle" to the list of Things I Did in Q2?

Swarm - top done, backing done, off to quilter for pantoquilting (since it's not going in the show, I decided against quilting it myself)

WIP Wednesday: sprint for the show

Snowflakes - top done, backing done, going to quilt this one myself, have to find time.

WIP Wednesday: sprint for the show

Tula Pink Mini Swap - done!

Tula Pink swap

With a close-up on the octopus 'cos she's so damn cute!

Tula Pink swap

1920s dress - done and worn!

Yes. I suck at photoshoots, but the dress is done! Although I think the hem needs shortening... #montecarlodress #fridaynightsewin #dressmaking

Next job on that is to do some beadwork across the bodice...

quilt backings

Four (4) quilt backings made and sent to the quilter!

Four quilts headed for the quilter. Mostly older ones that are finally going to get done. #gettingitdone>

ROCKING, BABY!

(And then they'll all come back and I'll have to bind them. *eeps*)

In Conclusion

Not as much as I wanted done (when is it ever) but still a decent amount.

Up for Q3!

To Do List - February (and January Finishes)

January's goals were:

1. All the quilt backings ever
2. Baby Quilt commission (Black Widow Wee Wander finish post)

Results?
1. Yeah, no. Not even one. :(
2. Finished, quilted, handed off. (Not very good, but eh.)

Well, 50% ain't bad, right? And I did finish some other things while I'm at it!

3. Boring Floor Covering (top)

I'm really not liking it. I really might pick it apart and put a decent separator border on it.

Quilting late Jan

4. Patchy Fruit Salad (top)

Something else I'm not really liking and which I might do some modifications for this week. If I have time.

Quilting late Jan

5. Salt Air With A Twist (top)

(Don't mind the cat tail or the discarded cat toy...)

February kickstarters

February's Goals

According to my Must Make List 2015, my goals for Feb are:
1. Swarm quilt
2. Scrap Log Cabin

I think I'm going to change this. My scraps are still in sorting phase and I've discovered other things I want to do with them!

So, the ToDo list for February is currently:
eta (2 hours later): 0. Salt Air Twist: get it backed and quilted (by my quilter Jo @ Thirroul Custom Quilts) for a combined 30th/31st/1st of a couple and their baby on the 7th March. Plus pillowcases.
1. Swarm quilt: I made some good progress on this yesterday at the Sydney Modern Quilt Group super-sew in!
2. Birthday Blocks 2012: All the pieces are cut out for the remaining blocks, and the lines are drawn for sewing it up! It just needs to get sewn.
3. Supernova Friendship Blocks: only two to go!

Two things to finish this month: birthday blocks 2012, and the supernova friendship blocks! We got a plan!

4. Curtains for the house windows: I'm tired of anyone off the street being able to see into our house.

5. And of course, all the quilt backings ever. Again. (Ugh.)

So here it is: all the things I'm gonna do this month! (Yeah, it's a short month, and I have a story of, oh, around 80,000 words to finish before the end of it, but she'll be right, yeah?

Finish Friday: "Black Widow Wee Wander"

Okay, so this quilt name makes no sense when looking at it from the finished front:

Quilting late Jan

But it's all in the hourglass blocks, which I laid out and sewed together wrong when I first put this together:

Baby quilt

I don't remember much of the other blocks, but I remember the hourglass blocks! Ugh! And, Marvel Cinematic geek that I am, I instantly associate the hourglass blocks with the character of Black Widow, a.k.a Natasha Romanoff, played by ScarJo.

black-widow

And the back has the Wee Wander night fabric on it, which is possibly the cutest fabric in the history of cute.

Quilting late Jan

Hence the name Black Widow Wee Wander. (Yes, this is how my mind works. No, it's not Earth logic. Shush. It's my brain and I have to live with it.)

The quilting is straight line and very light. I probably should have done it more detailed, but my machine was acting up and I didn't want to risk screwing the whole thing up.

It's a baby quilt comission for a lady I know from hockey, who asked me to do a commission. I don't usually do commissions because, well, they're pricey to make and not worth my time. I wouldn't do them for a living, for instance (but I sincerely admire those who do), but I'm happy to do quilt commissions for friends.

I'm going to try to document my finishes this year, instead of just squirrelling them off somewhere into the dark black ether of Completion.

2015 Finish-Along: Q1

I assume this means from January through March?

So. My "Must Make" list from January through March, of things that I've already started:

1. 7 dwarves for 7 other dwarves... Er. 9 quilt backings for 9 quilt tops.

Actually, there are nine showed here, but there are two more hanging up as curtains on our still curtainless windows....

Needs moar backings!

...can I count each of the quilt backings as a single finish? Can I? Can I?

2. Baby Quilt

Have top done. Need backing.

Baby quilt

This one is a 'complete quilt finish'.

3. Swarm

Was going to be a quilt pattern. But I suck at measurementing. (Yes, that is a word. It is totally a word. It is. Honest.)

Swarm

This is a 'quilt top only' finish.

4. Valley of the Kings

Very un-modern. Bad modern quilter! No bikkit!

Valley of the Kings

I don't know if I like this one anymore. I'm not sure the recip will either. *scowly face*

'Quilt top only' finish.

5. Curtains

Curtains

One set made, four more to go! The linen for the curtains arrived this week, though, so now it's just a question of fabric and pattern.

6. Birthday Blocks 201...2?

WIP Wednesday

Need to make an extra 6 blocks to finish the top. Now the question: random colours, or colour shift?

'Quilt top and backing' finish.
